Eco Club

2018-2019

Welcome to our page!

Our school is very proud to be registered as an Eco school which recognises our commitment to developing strategies that sustain and enhance resources and the environment. We have been awarded full Green Flag status, which is a result of a whole school involvement. We are currently working towards renewing our Platinum award. The school has adopted and Eco Code which the Eco Club created at the beginning of the school year.

Eco Club meets every Monday after school with Miss Morgan and Miss Hendy. The club is open to Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to Year 6). In club we share ideas of how we can improve our school, how to encourage sustainability and discuss the ‘Big Issues’ such as plastic pollution and what we as a school can do to help.

This term Eco Club has taken part in activities such as:

  • World Water Day

We used iPads to find information on World Water Day to create posters, movies and powerpoints to tell our friends how we can help!

  • Fair trade

Eco club took home their parts of the script that we wrote together and delivered a presentation about Fair trade bananas
  • Owls
We coloured in owls which we have put on all light switches around the school to remind everyone to turn off the lights!

  • Plastic reduction

  • Growing our own food

Eco club members have been planting different seeds. In this picture we are adding soil to a pot of strawberries!
