LEARNING AT HOME - GUIDANCE FOR PARENTS

We appreciate your continued support with your child's learning during the current situation. Below are a list of possible questions that you may have about learning at home, with answers and links to appropriate resources:

Where will I find any work that has been set for my child?

All work will be posted online using Google Classroom.

  • Mrs Watson Google Classroom page - https://classroom.google.com/u/3/c/MjQxMDU5ODI3NDVa
  • Miss Keelan/Mrs Thomas/ Mrs Ells Google Classroom page - https://classroom.google.com/u/2/c/NDM0MDA4NTEyODJa

How does my child log on to Google Classroom?

Follow this link to the Google Classroom login page - classroom.google.com

Children use their school email address to log in (e.g. - JoeBloggs@llanyrafonprimary.co.uk)

Password is the same as logging on to Chromebooks in school.

Where should my child's work be completed?

Work can either be completed using Google Docs / Slides / Drive and submitted on Google Classroom, or written into Home Learning books that have been sent home.

I have a problem or a question for my child's teacher. How can I contact them?

Children are more than welcome to post questions to their teacher and peers on the Google Classroom stream. Should parents want to contact teachers directly, please send an email to:

  • Mrs Watson- mrswatson@llanyrafonprimary.co.uk
  • Miss Keelan/Mrs Thomas/Mrs Ells- misskeelan@llanyrafonprimary.co.uk
  • Mrs Callard - mrscallard@llanyrafonprimary.co.uk

My child has completed all of the work that they've been set. What now?

  • Teachers will be updating Google Classroom at appropriate intervals with new tasks should the need arise. Please visit Google Classroom regularly to keep up to date.
  • Please feel free to also push your child on in areas that you feel would benefit them (e.g. practicing areas of Numeracy/Literacy that they find difficult, learning a new times table, extra reading, spelling/punctuation practice, investigating a new topic that interests them etc.)

Which times tables should child be practicing?

What other areas of Mathematics should I be covering with my child?

Where can I find National Tests past papers for my child to practice with?

Enjoying Sports activities and raising money for Sports Relief - a great was to reinforce our times tables too! Thank you for your contributions, hopefully you will have tired children by the time they come home. All for a good cause.😄

Croeso i'r Blwyddyn Tri

Welcome back to the second half of the Spring Term. We have a jam packed term ahead of us, with lots of learning and fun to be had. We will be focussing on a novel that is steeped in Welsh Mythology entitled 'The Lonely Bwbach.' The pupils, will be taking the lead on our learning and guiding us to the endless creative and imaginative lesson paths, that they wish to follow. We will be working hard towards our successful Eisteddfod in which Year three will be fantastic contenders for the very, first time. Pob lwc!

In maths we will be getting ready for our national tests and will be using maths throughout our topics work.

Here are a few reminders for the term:

Physical Education Lessons will take place on a Monday and Wednesday afternoons, as usual. Can pupils make sure that their hair can be tied back and earrings taken our (preferably before school, to avoid earring being lost by pupils)

Dinner Money must be sent in to school daily, clearly marked with pupils names in a ‘small’ container or envelope - £2.40 per day.

Homework – will be issued on a Thursday and required to be in school on the Tuesday. Please ensure that homework is completed under supervision, in order to maintain standards. It also gives you a small insight in what we are covering in school and to how your child is managing with homework tasks.

Home reading books, will be changed/checked every Monday and Thursday. Can pupils please bring in their reading books, even if they have not completed them. We can be sure to keep and accurate record of their levels as a result.

Listening to readers - Guided Reading, will be completed once a week in a small group. The lessons will be tailored specifically for their ability, for maximum affect. They will be reading a level above their home reading book levels, in order to challenge them. If anyone would like to listen to individual readers within the school day, could you please contact us?

Many thanks for your continued support and we look forward to a creative and educational term.

We have read the story Silly Billy by one of Mrs Thomas' favourite authors - Anthony Browne. We understand that worries may seem silly to some, but can seem big to others. We all know that a problem shared, is a problem halved and who we can turn to if we have a worry. We even have set up our own 'Question And Worry Box,' which we notice looks a bit disheveled itself. Try not to worry about it, we will cheer it up with a makeover! 😀

We’ve had such a great time in Year 3. It’s been so much fun that we couldn’t stop dancing.

Now it’s time for us us to part,

but you will stay within our hearts

We've learnt a lot and smiled each day

but we have to gratefully say

Thank you kids for fun and joy

for bringing little squishy toys

You tried to teach us how to floss

Now practice and you’ll be the boss!

You learnt to try and say I can

and at Sports Day you all ran

We will miss you when you’re gone

But we have made this little song.

Dance and sing and say today

Year 3 was great - Hip hip hooray!

Thank you for all your very kind words of gratitude, your cards and very generous gifts. Each and everyone is appreciated. Have a wonderful summer, stay safe and we will see you as you move onto Year 4.
