Year 4

Year 4 Summer Term - International Topic (Australia)

Shwmae pawb! We hope that everyone is safe and well at home during these difficult times and would like to thank you all for your excellent effort in the work that we have sent home to you so far. We have loved looking at all of your fantastic pieces of work on Google Classroom. Keep up the good work!

Just to remind you, here is a guide of the amount of work that you should be completing every day whilst at home:

  • Independent Reading (10 minutes)

  • Times Tables Practice or Times Tables Rock Stars/Numbots (10 minutes) - ask your parents to test you on Fridays!

  • Spelling Practice (5 minutes) – ask your parents to test you on Fridays!

  • Welsh Placemat or Key Phrases (5 minutes)

  • One of the Maths OR English activities provided e.g Maths on Monday, English on Tuesday etc. Alternatively, you could do a little of both subjects each day.

We are also introducing a new topic focus for the beginning of the Summer Term, our International Topic, where we will be learning all about Australia.

In order for you to lead your own learning in this topic, please aim to complete at least 3 activities per week from the International Homework Menu that we have posted on Google Classroom, but feel free to complete more if you would like to!

As usual, all of your work has been uploaded onto Google Classroom. Work can be completed on Docs or Slides and photographs/videos can be uploaded to show us what you have been doing. If this is not possible, work can be completed in your Home Learning book.

Also a big thank you to all of our fantastic parents for the support you are giving your children at home - we really appreciate it! If you have any questions or need any support with regards to the work provided, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher via email or through Google Classroom.

Thank you for your continued support!

Mrs Clark, Mr  Jones, Mr Bishop and Mr Newton

We appreciate your continued support with your child's learning during the current situation. Below are a list of possible questions that you may have about learning at home, with answers and links to appropriate resources:

Where will I find any work that has been set for my child?

All work will be posted online using Google Classroom.

  • Mrs Clark's Google Classroom page

  • Mr Jones' Google Classroom page

How does my child log on to Google Classroom?

Follow this link to the Google Classroom login page - classroom.google.com

Children use their school email address to log in (e.g. - JoeBloggs@llanyrafonprimary.co.uk)

Password is the same as logging on to Chromebooks in school.

Where should my child's work be completed?

Work can either be completed using Google Docs / Slides / Drive and submitted on Google Classroom, or written into Home Learning books that have been sent home.

I have a problem or a question for my child's teacher. How can I contact them?

Children are more than welcome to post questions to their teacher and peers on the Google Classroom stream. Should parents want to contact teachers directly, please send an email to:

  • Mrs Clark - mrsclark@llanyrafonprimary.co.uk
  • Mr W Jones - mrwjones@llanyrafonprimary.co.uk

My child has completed all of the work that they've been set. What now?

  • Teachers will be updating Google Classroom at appropriate intervals with new tasks should the need arise. Please visit Google Classroom regularly to keep up to date.
  • Please feel free to also push your child on in areas that you feel would benefit them (e.g. practicing areas of Numeracy/Literacy that they find difficult, learning a new times table, extra reading, spelling/punctuation practice, investigating a new topic that interests them etc.)

Which times tables should child be practicing?

What other areas of Mathematics should I be covering with my child?

  • Where can I find National Tests past papers for my child to practice with?
